Bruhath Katphaladi Kashayam is a classical Kashaya preparation explained in Ayurveda Text book ‘ Bhaishajyaratnavali’.

Bruhath Katpahaldi Kashayam can help with headaches, sinusitis, cough, and sore throat; hoarseness of voice; recurring upper respiratory tract disease, and tonsil inflammation. Aids in the treatment of cervical adenitis. Improves thyroid gland function, and is effective in treating obesity and associated lethargy.

“Bruhat katpahaladi kashaya is a yoga that is mentioned in the context of Vata-Kapha jwara chikitsa. It has particular efficacy in treating chronic inflammation in Jatroordhwa vikaras like karnasopha, karnasoola, badirya, galaganda, gandamaya etc. I routinely use it in the management of recurrent ENT infections, chronic fever, myofascitis (thalaneerirakam) and thyroid dysfunction. Drugs with deepana pachana action may be used as prakshepa or in combination with the kashaya.

Dose of Bruhath Katpahaldi Kashayam

Adult: 15-20 ml of Bruhath Katpahaldi Kashayam mixed with 45-60 ml of boiled and cooled water, twice daily on an empty stomach.

Child: 10-15 ml of Bruhath Katpahaldi Kashayam mixed with 30-45 ml of boiled and cooled water, twice daily on an empty stomach.
