Clinical experience regarding Chitrakagranthikadi Kashayam

” I find the classical combination of Chitrakagranthikadi kashaya of particular benefit in treating patients presenting in the PCOS spectrum. The patients are often present with amenorrhoea and monthly bleeding
induced through hormone treatment alone. In these cases, after the initial phase of vatanulomana and deepana pachana (1-2 months on average), the next phase of amapachana, srotosodhana and gulma/
granthihara chikitsa begins with Chiktrakagranthikadi kashaya in combination with a number of prakshepa oushadas, based on the patient’s specific set of symptoms. I prescribe the kashaya twice or thrice daily in the usual format with Vilangatnduladi choorna, Kanchanara guggulu, Panchakola choorna, Kalyanaka kshara etc. This helps in restoring monthly periods without hormone treatment. Gradually resorption of the ovarian cyst happens, the patient loses weight and reproductive health is restored. We have achieved resolution of different stages of Ovarian cysts (as evidenced by before & after USGs) from polycystic appearance to compound cysts through treatment periods ranging from 3 – 6 months on an average.”
